Farmers Branch woman killed in crash involving drunken driver

A 30-year-old woman was killed Friday night in a crash involving a suspected drunken driver in Farmers Branch.

Rosanely Fraire, of Farmers Branch, was a passenger in a car that was struck around 10:11 p.m. in the intersection of Webb Chapel Road and Valwood Parkway. Fraire was transported to Parkland Memorial Hospital where she was pronounced dead. The driver of the car she was in was also taken to the hospital and is expected to survive, said Farmers Branch police spokesman David Laisure.

Police said 27-year-old Adam Quiros was driving the other car involved in the crash and fled the scene. He later returned to the intersection, where police took him into custody, Laisure said.

Police believe Quiros was involved in a hit-and-run crash around 10:04 p.m. near the intersection of Luna and Belt Line roads in Carrollton, said Carrollton police spokeswoman Jolene DeVito. Carrollton officers called Farmers Branch for help locating Quiros, who struck the car carrying Fraire about seven minutes later.

“He left a trail of vehicle parts, and they were kind of following the trail,” Laisure said.

Quiros was badly injured in the Farmers Branch crash and was transported to the hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening. He remained hospitalized Saturday morning, but was later transferred to the Dallas County Jail where he was charged with intoxication manslaughter. Bond has been set at $50,000.

He also faces a driving while intoxicated charge, three counts of failure to stop and render aid, and three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in connection with the Carrollton crash, DeVito said.
